Throughout the academic year staff are invited to participate in the Table Tennis Ladder to compete in a relaxed fashion against friends and colleagues from within the University of Abertay. If you are interested in joining the ladder then please e-mail your name to the Sports Office on sport@abertay.ac.uk and your name will be added to the ladder. The ladder rules and ladder itself are below for your information. If you have any questions about the Ladder, or any other Sports Office initiative, please contact the Sports Office.

1. All matches are to be played under official ITTF regulations except where stated below.
2. Matches should be decided on a best of three games basis, with a game being first to 21 or by two clear points if the score reaches 20-20. Serves alternate every five, and every one if the score reaches 20-20.
3. Balls will be provided by the Sports Office, rackets can also be provided if necessary.
4. Fixtures should be played in G11, an up to date timetable to check room availability can be found on the portal.

1. Players may challenge up to three ranks above themselves in the ladder.
2. If the challenger wins the match then the winner takes the losers place, the loser and all intermediate players moving down one place. Otherwise the positions remain unchanged.
3. Challenges should be made directly between players by e-mail, with the Sports Office copied in to any correspondence (sport@abertay.ac.uk).
4. Results should be submitted to the Sports Office by e-mail (sport@abertay.ac.uk) and the ladder will be updated in the order that results are received.
5. Any disputes will be resolved by the Sports Development Officer whose decision will be final.
6. When a player is challenged they have a period of one week in which to arrange to play the match. If after this time the match has not been played the challenged player forfeits the match.
7. A challenging player may withdraw the challenge if a date and time have not been agreed. Once a time has been agreed the challenge is binding.
8. Failure to attend for a match at an agreed time results in forfeiture of the match.
9. Refusal of a valid challenge results in forfeiture of the match.
10. When a challenge has been accepted, neither player can challenge or be challenged before the match has been played.
11. A player cannot play the same opponent in consecutive matches.
12. A player not currently involved in a challenge may declare themselves inactive if unable to play for a period of a week or longer. Inactive players cannot be challenged and do not count in determining how high in the ladder players below can challenge. The top two players cannot declare themselves inactive.
13. Any person wishing to join the ladder will do so at the bottom.
14. When a person wishes to leave the ladder (for whatever reason) their name will be removed and all players below will move up a place.
